HC Nod For Municipal Polls In Karimnagar Corporation

Hyderabad, Jan.9 (Maxim News): The High Court today stayed the orders of a single judge bench stalling municipal polls in Karimnagar district.

Following a petition filed by the State government, the High Court issued orders in its favour. The government challenged the decision of the single judge bench and appealed to the Division Bench to grant permission to hold civic polls in Karimnagar. The government counsel argued that the State Election Commission and the official machinery have made all arrangements for conducting the polls and staying polls in one municipal corporation was unfair.

Responding to the government appeal, the court has given nod and stayed previous orders. With this the line cleared for the polls for Karimnagar Municipal Corporation. The fresh order paved the way for polls as scheduled. As a result, a total of 10 corporations will be going to the polls along with 120 municipalities scheduled on January 22. (Maxim News)
