Hyderabad, July 15 (Maxim News): The HMDA Chief Engineer disproportionate assets case took a significant turn on Tuesday after a Special Court for Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) cases remanded Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) Chief Engineer B. Ravinder to 14 days of judicial custody.
The court passed the order after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and the defence. Following the remand, officials shifted Ravinder to Chanchalguda Central Jail.
The Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) had arrested Ravinder after registering a disproportionate assets case, alleging that he amassed wealth beyond his known sources of income during his tenure as a public servant. The investigation is continuing.

The judicial remand follows extensive searches conducted by ACB officials at Ravinder’s residence, office, and properties linked to his relatives and associates. During the searches, investigators reportedly recovered cash, gold ornaments, property documents, electronic gadgets, vehicles, and records relating to several immovable assets.
According to the ACB’s preliminary findings, the seized assets are estimated to be worth more than Rs 9.24 crore, although officials believe the market value of the properties could be substantially higher. Investigators alleged that the assets were acquired through abuse of official position and disproportionate to the officer’s known income.
The HMDA Chief Engineer disproportionate assets case has been registered under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. The bureau is examining financial records and property documents to determine the source of the assets and identify any additional beneficiaries.
Sources indicated that ACB officials are likely to move the court seeking Ravinder’s custody for further interrogation. Investigators believe custodial questioning could help gather additional evidence and establish the involvement of other individuals, if any, connected to the alleged corruption case.
The Anti Corruption Bureau has intensified its investigation to trace financial transactions, verify ownership of properties, and examine whether additional assets remain undisclosed. Officials are also scrutinising documents seized during the searches as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The HMDA Chief Engineer disproportionate assets case is among the prominent corruption investigations currently being pursued by the Telangana ACB. The bureau has stated that further legal action will depend on the evidence collected during the investigation and the outcome of the ongoing verification process. (Maxim News)
