Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail services have been increased to handle the heavy passenger rush caused by the ongoing RTC employees strike. Authorities enhanced train frequency on major corridors to help commuters facing transport disruption across the city.
Thousands of passengers shifted to metro services after RTC buses remained limited due to the strike. Therefore, officials revised schedules to improve convenience during peak travel hours.
Cyberabad Traffic Police shared the updated timings through a post on X and advised commuters to use metro services wherever possible.
Revised Timings on Key Corridors
On the busy Miyapur to LB Nagar corridor, trains normally run every 3 minutes 40 seconds during peak hours and every 4 minutes 50 seconds during non peak hours.
However, services are now being operated every 4 minutes 20 seconds throughout the day to manage continuous passenger demand.
On the Nagole to Raidurg corridor, trains usually run every 5 minutes 20 seconds. Now, trains are running every 3 minutes 40 seconds across the day.
Officials said the revised schedule will remain in place based on passenger demand and strike conditions.
Late Night Extension Under Review
Authorities are also considering extending metro train services beyond 11 pm for the benefit of late night commuters.
This move may help office workers, students and travelers who are struggling due to reduced RTC bus availability.
Meanwhile, metro stations across Hyderabad witnessed heavy crowds since the strike began. Passengers requested additional trains and better crowd management during rush hours.
The RTC strike has already impacted daily travel across Telangana. As a result, metro rail has emerged as a major transport lifeline for city commuters.
