Hyderabad Roads: GHMC Repair Over 15,000 Potholes

Hyderabad, Oct 14: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has stepped up its citywide Road Safety Drive, completing over 15,000 pothole repairs as of October 13, 2025.

This large-scale operation aims to make roads safer, smoother, and free from disruptions caused by monsoon damage.

Under the leadership of GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan, the civic body has adopted a mission-mode approach to road maintenance. Focus areas include pothole filling, catch pit repairs, road patchwork, resurfacing, and central median restoration.

The initiative aligns with GHMC’s goal of achieving 100% pothole repair across Hyderabad.

Chief Engineer (Maintenance) Sahadev Ratnakar is personally supervising progress at ground level, ensuring timely completion of all tasks.

Hyderabad Roads: GHMC Repair

According to GHMC data, 17,348 potholes were identified across city zones, and 15,074 have already been fixed.

The corporation also completed 788 catch pit repairs, 382 cover replacements, and 18 median restorations.

Area-wise progress highlights include 3,570 potholes repaired in Secunderabad Zone, 2,901 in L.B. Nagar, 2,419 in Kukatpally, 2,328 in Charminar, 2,195 in Khairatabad, and 1,661 in Serilingampally.

Karnan emphasized GHMC’s commitment to maintaining safe and smooth mobility across Hyderabad.

He stated, “Our priority is citizen safety and smooth mobility. All road safety and repair works are being executed in a mission-oriented manner across all zones.” With the dry season underway, GHMC aims to expedite completion before traffic challenges resume in the next rain cycle.
