Hyderabad SHE Teams | Hyderabad, July 3 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad SHE Teams received 102 complaints during June 2026 and apprehended 127 people for allegedly harassing or misbehaving with women in public places. The Women’s Safety Wing also secured convictions in 14 cases through investigation and timely legal action, reinforcing its ongoing efforts to improve women’s safety across the city.
According to the Hyderabad City Police, the SHE Teams acted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police V.C. Sajjanar, and continued surveillance at vulnerable locations across the city. As part of these operations, police detected multiple incidents of eve teasing and public harassment.
Police said six individuals were caught independently harassing women by inappropriately touching them in public places, causing distress and humiliation to the victims. Additionally, four transgender persons were found allegedly involved in unlawful activities during the surveillance drives.
Authorities immediately registered petty cases under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Hyderabad City Police Act. Subsequently, the court convicted all six offenders and sentenced each to three days of simple imprisonment along with a fine of ₹1,000. The court also convicted two transgender persons in separate petty cases and imposed a fine of ₹1,050 each.

Besides enforcement, the SHE Teams focused extensively on public awareness. During June, officials conducted 1,267 awareness programmes and surveillance activities in schools, colleges, educational institutions, workplaces, public transport hubs, markets, and other vulnerable locations. These programmes educated citizens about women’s safety, cyber safety, legal rights, and responsible behaviour in public spaces.
Hyderabad Police reiterated that strict legal action would continue against those involved in stalking, sexual harassment, cyber abuse, public harassment, and misuse of social media platforms. The department urged women facing any form of harassment to report incidents immediately instead of remaining silent.
Police also advised citizens to stay alert against fake social media profiles, avoid oversharing personal information online, use strong passwords with two factor authentication, and report suspicious online interactions. Officials stressed that early reporting helps prevent repeat offences and protects other potential victims.
Women can seek immediate assistance by dialling 100 or 112, or by contacting the SHE Teams through WhatsApp at 9490616555. The Hyderabad Police also encouraged members of the public to report any incident of harassment or eve teasing that they witnessed in public places.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Lavanya NJP, Women and Child Safety Wing, said the SHE Teams remain committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and security of women and children across Hyderabad through enforcement, awareness, and prompt police response. (Maxim News)
