Instructed Officials To Develop Joint Khammam As A Major Hub For Oil Palm Cultivation: Tummala
Khammam/Hyderabad, June 3 (Maxim News): Keeping in mind the growing importance of palm oil cultivation in the state, Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has advised the agriculture department officials to develop the Joint khammam district as a major hub for oil palm cultivation. He said that the district has a favourable environment for oil palm cultivation and it is a long -term crop that provides a stable income to the farmers.
On Tuesday, he discussed palm oil cultivation with agricultural officials at his residence in Gundlapalli village, Dammapeta mandal, Kothagudem district of Bhadradri.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao instructed the officials to cultivate oil palm crops more widely with the encouragement of the government and to take appropriate steps to provide palm oil plants to every farmer.
This crop has a life span of 25 to 30 years, yields three times higher than other oil crops, uses less water, and is an excellent way to stabilize agricultural income. Therefore, it is suggested that the Agriculture Department and Horticulture Department officials should directly go to the villages and organize awareness programs to educate the farmers of the joint Khammam district about oil farm cultivation.
Tummala commented that the entire state should be surprised to see the palm oil crop being grown in the Joint Khammam district, saying that it is not just a crop but a strength for future income.
District Agriculture Department officials, mandal level agriculture staff, Congress party leaders, former AMC Chairman Koyyala Achyutharao, kasani naga Prasad, Yarra Vasantha Rao, Kotagiri Buchibabu and others participated in the meeting. (Maxim News)
