Tehran/Hyderabad, July 13 (Maxim News): Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sustained a minor leg injury during an alleged Israeli missile strike targeting a high-level meeting in western Tehran on June 16, according to reports media.
The missile attack struck a government building in the Shahrak-e Gharb area, where a meeting of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council was underway. Present during the attack were key Iranian leaders including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Judiciary Chief Mohseni Ejei, raising serious concerns over the precision of the strike and the possibility of an insider leak.
Targeted Missile Strike Raises Alarm in Tehran
Reports suggest that six missiles were fired with strategic precision—specifically aimed at the building’s entry and exit points—a tactic reportedly inspired by Israel’s past operation against Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. The intention was to block escape routes and limit ventilation within the building.
The targeted officials were in the lower levels of the building during the strike, which led to a brief power outage and internal chaos. However, an emergency escape hatch, installed as a contingency measure, enabled the attendees to evacuate safely. Several officials sustained minor injuries in the process.
President Pezeshkian Claims Previous Assassination Attempts
Following the attack, President Pezeshkian confirmed suspicions of previous assassination attempts by Israel, stating, “They did try, yes. They acted accordingly, but they failed.”
The strike forms part of a broader 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran, during which Israeli forces reportedly killed several top Iranian military and nuclear figures. Among the casualties were:
- IRGC Commander Hossein Salami
- Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri
- IRGC Aerospace Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh
Iranian and international media have also reported that Israel had allegedly planned to assassinate Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but failed to find an appropriate opportunity.
Possible Security Breach Under Investigation
Iranian authorities have launched a full-scale investigation, focusing on the possibility of infiltration or a security breach that could have facilitated the strike. The IRGC and other intelligence agencies are reportedly reviewing internal protocols and examining all personnel involved in securing the high-level meeting.
The missile strike has sparked significant unease within Iranian political and military circles and is likely to escalate tensions further in the already volatile region.
