Hyderabad, Sept. 3: Former minister Konda Surekha has questioned her removal from the Telangana Cabinet, saying she was not given an opportunity to explain herself.
Surekha said even a person sentenced to death gets a final chance to speak. However, she claimed she was removed without being given such an opportunity.
She questioned Congress leaders over comments made by her daughter Konda Sushmita Patel. She asked why she should face action over her daughter’s views.
Konda Surekha Raises Questions Over Cabinet Exit
Surekha said the party should have sought an explanation if it believed she had committed any wrongdoing. She added that she would have accepted the action if she had actually made a mistake.
She said the ministerial position was only an ornament for her and that her removal without an explanation was painful. She also recalled that she had resigned from the ministerial post in the past.
Surekha claimed several ministers were unhappy with the government but were unwilling to speak openly. She urged them to speak honestly and said she wanted the government’s six guarantees to be implemented.
She also said she had not made statements against the Congress party or the government. Surekha cited past Congress leaders who had criticised the party or its leadership but later received positions.
Surekha alleged that she and her husband faced pressure from some Congress leaders. She also accused some leaders of working together to harass her.
She further alleged that a person named Kiran collected money by using the name of her former OSD Sumanth. She urged the government not to trouble Sumanth and said the government needed to correct some issues.
Surekha said several changes were needed for the Congress government to return to power. She also said important decisions should involve discussion instead of being taken unilaterally.
She said she would continue as an MLA and serve the people of her constituency. Surekha added that condemning her daughter’s comments could amount to insulting her.
She said she did not consider losing the ministerial post an insult. However, she maintained that dismissing her without finding any wrongdoing was the party’s mistake.
Surekha also drew a distinction between Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy.
