A shocking incident occurred in Badampet village of Kohir mandal, Sangareddy district, where a man addicted to liquor killed his mother after she refused to give him money for alcohol. The distressing event took place on Friday night, leaving the local community in shock.

Police identified the victim as Gaddameedi Padma, aged 52. She worked as a labourer to support herself and her son, while her son Balaraj was dependent on her income. According to police, Balaraj had been repeatedly demanding money from his mother to buy liquor. When she refused again on Friday, he lost control and attacked her brutally.

Investigators stated that Balaraj smashed his mother’s head against a wall in a fit of rage. Padma sustained a fatal head injury and bled heavily before succumbing to her wounds. Police officers reached the spot soon after being alerted by the locals.

Kohir police registered a case and took the accused, Balaraj, into custody. They shifted the body to the government hospital for post-mortem examination. Officials said further investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events leading to the killing. The tragic case highlights how substance abuse continues to destroy families across rural Telangana.
