Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Congress Committee President Syed Khalid Saifullah on Wednesday backed minority scholarship and documentation initiatives aimed at economic and educational empowerment in Telangana. Saifullah assured political support for minority scholarship efforts while clarifying his position. He said he did not hold administrative authority to approve schemes. However, he stressed the importance of political engagement. “You don’t get what you deserve; you get what you negotiate,” he said. He urged community leaders to adopt pressure building strategies to secure their demands. Therefore, he encouraged sustained engagement with the government.

The programme was led by ASEEM, a registered Hyderabad based NGO. The organisation includes activists, researchers, lawyers, and social workers. It works to secure rights and entitlements for marginalised communities. Founded by Ali Asghar and S.Q. Masood, ASEEM promotes dignity, justice, and equality irrespective of caste, class, gender, religion, or ethnicity. Meanwhile, the event highlighted the role of civil society in institutional engagement.

Saifullah also committed to facilitating meetings with ministers and senior officials. “I will try my best to be part of every meeting and representation to explain the importance of your demands,” he said. Later, he welcomed proposals to conduct documentation correction drives in Karimnagar and Nizamabad. He said these drives were essential to help people access welfare schemes. Therefore, he linked documentation support directly with minority scholarship access.

He further offered access to the Hyderabad DCC network. This network covers five assembly constituencies, Charminar, Bahadurpura, Yakutpura, Malakpet, and Chandrayangutta. It also includes 44 municipal divisions and 1,500 polling booths. He proposed training local party workers to help with fieldwork and documentation. “Our office in Hyderabad will be available to you. If you train our workers, they will help people on the ground,” he said.

Saifullah also promised technical support. “If any app or digital solution is needed, I will take responsibility for developing it,” he added. Concluding his address, he said, “Whatever is within my capacity, consider it yours from today. We will work together for the benefit of the people.” The event marked a key step in ASEEM’s ongoing work to empower minority communities through legal aid, access to entitlements, and institutional engagement.
