Mixing Religion With Politics Not Right: KTR

Hyderabad, Aug.10 (Maxim News): TRS working president KT Rama Rao today said politics and religion were getting mixed, which was not right. He said there was no meaning for democracy in the country if there was no chance for expressing differences and views freely. “One has the right to speak logically and express his or her opinion freely”, he said.

Participating as chief guest in Telangana Vikasa Samithi program at Telugu University here, the former minister said freedom has provided rights to people and give respect to all the religions. He took serious exception to the religion being attached with politics and a typical situation was prevailing in the country. The government is ought to respect equally all the religions, he said, adding that it cannot ignore one religion and give priority to other.

“The nation is bowing down to a situation wherein we cannot give respect to our father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. I was pained to receive twitter replies in support of Pragya Singh of the BJP. There was no difference among the religions for several generations in Telangana”, he informed. KTR expressed his displeasure at the prevailing situation in the country with regard to one’s association with religion or party or a group.

“We have to respect all religions without giving priority to one and ignoring another”, KTR said. He appreciated Telangana Vikasa Samithi for its ideology to respect and express opinion with freedom. He also said he had to face a panic situation for condemning the remarks of BJP leader Sadhvi Pragya Singh that Nathuram Godse was a patriot. “For that tweet, I got several comments against me”, he added.
