NEET 2026 | A major controversy has erupted over the NEET 2026 medical entrance examination after a “guess paper” circulated in Rajasthan reportedly matched a large portion of the actual question paper. Student groups and parents have alleged a possible paper leak and demanded a high level probe into the issue.
The controversy began after a handwritten question set circulated on social media before the examination. After the test concluded, students compared the document with the original NEET paper and found striking similarities in questions, answer options, and sequence patterns.
According to preliminary findings, nearly 600 marks worth of questions out of the total 720 marks reportedly matched the leaked material. Investigators also identified more than 300 handwritten questions related to Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the document. Officials said at least 140 questions directly appeared in the final examination.
NEET 2026 Leak Probe Intensifies
The Rajasthan government and police launched an immediate investigation after the issue gained attention online. Special Investigation Teams have now started probing the origin of the leaked material and possible links between coaching institutes and examination staff.
Investigators revealed that the leaked paper allegedly surfaced in Sikar district nearly two days before the exam. Reports suggest copies were initially sold for amounts ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 2 lakh. However, the price reportedly dropped to Rs 30,000 a day before the examination.
Police suspect the material spread rapidly through WhatsApp and other social media platforms. Thousands of students are believed to have received the document before the test.
During the investigation, officials identified an MBBS student from Jharkhand as a key suspect. He is currently studying at a medical college in Kerala. Police said he allegedly shared the material with a friend on May 1. From there, the document reportedly spread through PG hostels, coaching centres, and career counselling networks.
The National Testing Agency is now waiting for the final report from the Rajasthan Special Operations Group before taking further action. Officials indicated that if the leak allegations are proven, major changes in rankings and results could follow.
Meanwhile, students across the country have expressed concern over the credibility of the examination process. Several student organisations have demanded cancellation of the exam if the leak is officially confirmed. The controversy has also revived memories of the NEET 2024 disputes, which had triggered nationwide protests over examination transparency.
