Hyderabad, June 17 (Maxim News): Osmania Dental College, Principal Sarjeev Singh Yadav revealed key details. On June 9, first-year BDS students in the college filed a written complaint alleging that seniors were engaging in ragging against them. The college management responded immediately after receiving the complaint and summoned the final year students that same day and reprimanded them severely. However, within 24 hours of the management’s warning, the senior students again engaged in ragging. A decision was taken to suspend a total of 12 students who violated the rules and engaged in ragging from the college.
On this occasion, Principal Sarjeev Singh Yadav said, “Seniors used to harass juniors by making them bring alcohol and cigarettes and also fill water in coolers. Some victims, who are studying in the third year, were even afraid to come out of the hostel rooms due to fear of ragging. Many complaints have been received in the past against third year students who indulged in ragging. On December 31 last year, they not only broke the CCTV cameras in the hostel, but also seriously harassed other students. When they were ready to take action against them at that time, the students apologized to the management and assured them that they would not make such mistakes again. But, their minds did not change. They harassed the juniors with the same kind of behavior again. In this process, we have suspended 12 students. The college management is of the opinion that by doing so, the parents also have a lot of responsibility for the behavior of their children.” (Maxim News)
