Delhi/Internet/Hyderabad, june 17 (Maxim News): The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued new guidelines for hotels, restaurants and food business companies. It has been decided that rusty, broken, stained and damaged knives should not be used for cooking. FSSAI has tightened hygiene standards to prevent contamination of food items. It has been advised that knives, cutting boards and other equipment used in kitchens should be clean and in good condition.
It warned that using rusty or damaged equipment for cooking could lead to the spread of harmful particles in food. It clarified that restaurants, hotels, catering units and food processing centers will have to follow these guidelines. FSSAI has suggested that staff should be trained on kitchen management. It said that the main objective of these new orders is to increase quality and safety standards in the food business.
Meanwhile, FSSAI officials who inspected hotels and restaurants noticed something there. Cooks were using rusty, broken, stained, and damaged knives for cooking. It is in this context that FSSAI has issued new guidelines keeping in mind the health of the people. (Maxim News)
