Islamabad/Internet/Hyderabad, Sept 1 (Maxim News): A 100-year-old Hindu temple in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province has been demolished, a report said last month, but it is being said that the temple was demolished to make way for a nearby madrasa. Locals, minority groups and political parties are demanding the reconstruction of the 125-year-old temple. They have all urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to remove the encroachments near the temple.
The banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan group is accused of destroying a temple. The incident took place on August 21. However, the government said that the century-old temple collapsed due to recent rains. The temple is located on an area of about 1,000 square meters in Siraj village of Norowal. It is about 130 kilometers from Lahore.
The Pakistan Masih Milita Party has asked CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif to take action against those who demolished the Hindu temple. (Maxim News)
