Model Solar Villages & Financial Incentives:

One notable component of the scheme is the development of “Model Solar Villages” in every district of the country. A total of ₹800 crore has been allocated for this initiative, with ₹1 crore in Central Financial Assistance (CFA) allocated per village.

Furthermore, the scheme encourages local governance participation. It offers:

  • ₹1,000 incentive per rooftop installation to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) within their jurisdictions.

Ease of Access and Financial Support:

To boost adoption and streamline the process, the government has implemented several measures:

  • Online processing from registration to direct subsidy transfer to consumer bank accounts.
  • Collateral-free loans from nationalized banks at concessional interest rates (Repo rate + 0.5%, currently 6% p.a.) for 10-year tenures.
  • Simplified regulatory approvals, including:
    • Waiver of technical feasibility studies.
    • Auto load enhancement up to 10 kW.
