Pocharam hails Govt program for pregnant women & kids

Banswada, Feb.27 (Maxim News): State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pocharam Sreenivas Reddy today inaugurated the pulse polio drops programme at the Mother and Child hospital here.

Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker emphasised the need for administering polio drops to the children to save them from polio. He said all children between 0 to 5 years of age should compulsorily take the polio drops.

Stating that children will be healthy if the mother is in fit condition, he said that is why the state government has launched a program to provide nutritious food to the pregnant women. Poor pregnant women are provided nutritious food as also financial assistance. Anganwadi centres are providing milk and food with egg to pregnant women. Financial assistance of ₹.13, 000 in case of female child and ₹.12, 000 in case of male child is given after delivery. From sixth month of pregnancy, ₹.1000 per month is being given till delivery, he said and called upon the women to go in for delivery in government hospitals.

Pocharam said the mother and child hospital was started here with ₹.20 crore for the benefit of women and kids of the area. RDO Raja Goud, Area hospital superintendent Dr. Srinivasa Prasad, doctors and staff of the hospital and people’s representatives participated in the programme. (Maxim News)
