POCSO Conviction In Hyderabad Case For Life Term

Hyderabad, May 15 (Maxim News): The Fast Track Special Judge for expeditious trial and disposal of rape and POCSO Act cases in Ranga Reddy District at L B Nagar convicted three accused in Balapur Police Station case No. 388/2021.

The court sentenced Mohammad Azeem to life imprisonment and fined him Rs 22,000. It also awarded three years’ imprisonment each to Mohammad Haleem and Smt Jameela Begum, with a fine of Rs 6,000 each. The court also ordered victim compensation of Rs 4,00,000.

Court Delivers Verdict in Balapur Case

The case involved offences under Sections 312, 376(2)(n), 506 read with 109 of the IPC and Sections 5 read with 6 of the POCSO Act, 2012. The victim was a 16 year old girl. Her mother filed the complaint. She said she had married Shaik Arshad and had two daughters and one son. After family disputes, she began living separately with the children.

The complainant worked as a maid servant. She kept the children at her mother’s house in Abubakar Colony, Kothapet, while she went to work. One day, she visited the house and found her elder daughter crying. When she asked the reason, the girl said her brother Mohammad Azeem had repeatedly forced himself on her. The victim also said he threatened her with dire consequences.

Later, the girl suffered severe stomach pain. She was taken to a hospital. There, doctors found that she was pregnant. After learning this, the complainant confronted the family members. However, the accused allegedly threatened both the mother and daughter. The source also says they brought pregnancy tablets and forced the victim to consume them, which caused a miscarriage.

Police and Bharosa Team Support

The conviction came after concerted efforts by the investigating officers, prosecutors, court staff, and Bharosa team. The source names Inspector B. Bhaskar, who was the Inspector of Police, Balapur PS and is now SHO Yadadri PS. It also names K. Purushotham Reddy, then ACP Vanasthalipuram and now DSP in Jagityal.

The note also credits Additional Public Prosecutor Sri. P. Satyanarayana, Public Prosecutor Sri. K. Prathap Reddy, and Legal Counselor Smt. Dhruthi Chowdary. It further acknowledges M. Sudhakar, Inspector of Police, Balapur, Court Duty Officer K. Srinivas Reddy, HC 3056, and Summons Duty staff K. Ramdas, PC 9585, PS Balapur. The Bharosa team also included Dr. Lavanya NJP, DCP, Women Safety, Hyderabad, Prasanna Lakshmi, ACP, Women Safety, Hyderabad, Padma Palle, Inspector Bharosa, and G. Jyothi, Centre Administrator.
