Private college fee reimbursements Trigger Telangana Strike

Private college fee reimbursements | Hyderabad, Nov. 4: Private college owners and student groups in Telangana called a statewide strike enters second day today demanding release of pending private college fee reimbursements, disrupting college operations across the state.

The strike began on Monday and continued into day two, with more than 2,000 private degree, engineering and postgraduate colleges joining.

Demand for immediate release of private college fee reimbursements

College managers said the government owes large sums in fee reimbursements to private institutions. As a result, many colleges face severe cash flow stress. Representatives told officials that unpaid reimbursements run into crores of rupees. Consequently, staff salaries and operational costs remain unpaid in several institutions.

Student unions and college associations staged protests at public sites. On Monday they submitted petitions at the Ambedkar and Indira Gandhi memorials.

They urged the state to clear the pending private college fee reimbursements without delay. Otherwise, they warned, the movement will escalate.

BC student groups announced support for the strike. They demanded immediate release of all pending reimbursements. They also called for a meeting with the education department.

College owners requested urgent state intervention to prevent further academic disruption.
Education managers warned that prolonged delays will harm students and staff. They requested interim payments while final settlements proceed.

The government has not yet issued an official statement. Meanwhile, colleges remained shut and classes stayed suspended across Telangana today.
