Hyderabad, May 20: Senior Congress leader and Lok Sabha MP Rahul Gandhi triggered a fresh political controversy after making sharp remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah during an event in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh.
Addressing party workers and supporters, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of working against the interests of the country. He alleged that Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah were “traitors” and claimed that the BJP and RSS were attacking the Constitution and the ideals of leaders including Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. BJP Hits Back at Rahul Gandhi
Responding strongly to the remarks, the BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of insulting the country and using divisive language.
The party alleged that his comments reflected a “hereditary political mindset” and criticised him for making controversial statements against the Prime Minister and Home Minister.
Rahul Gandhi further alleged that the economy was being controlled by industrialists and claimed that the government was ignoring the hardships faced by common citizens amid rising prices.
The exchange of remarks has intensified political tensions between the Congress and BJP ahead of upcoming political campaigns and public outreach programmes.
