Nagarkurnool, July 7: Several children sustained injuries after a rice cooker exploded at an Anganwadi centre in Kolhapur town of Nagarkurnool district on Tuesday. The incident occurred at the centre located in the town’s 10th ward while food was being prepared for the children.
According to officials, the cooker exploded shortly after the food was cooked and was taken out in front of the children. The blast injured several children who were present at the centre.
Soon after the incident, staff shifted the injured children to the Government Hospital in Kolhapur. Hospital Superintendent Dr Srinivas and pediatrician Dr Yadagiri Billa provided medical treatment.
Meanwhile, Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) Maheshwari visited the hospital and reviewed the incident. The official said appropriate action would be taken against those found negligent.
Ward Councillor Borelli Mahesh also visited the hospital and met the injured children.
