Hyderabad, May 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said authorities seized Captagon drugs worth Rs 182 crore in a major anti narcotics operation.
He said the operation, codenamed Operation Razepil, led to the seizure of banned stimulant drugs and the arrest of a foreign national allegedly linked to an international trafficking network.
According to Amit Shah, the drug consignment was being routed through India to West Asian countries. He said agencies acted swiftly to dismantle the trafficking network.
In a post on X, the Union Minister said the Modi government was committed to building a drug free India and taking strict action against international narcotics syndicates.
Officials said Captagon is an amphetamine type stimulant banned in several countries. It is reportedly linked to militant groups and organised criminal networks in parts of the Middle East.
Investigators believe India was being used as a transit route for the illegal consignment. Authorities said furtherinvestigation is underway to identify others connected to the network and trace international suppliers
