Hyderabad, 15 June: The Ranga Reddy District Transport Department launched a special enforcement drive on Monday as private schools reopened across Hyderabad. Officials inspected school buses transporting students and seized six vehicles for allegedly violating transport and safety regulations.

Officials focused on student safety measures during the inspections. They verified the availability of fire extinguishers, first aid kits and updated student lists inside the buses. In addition, they reviewed the eligibility and experience of drivers operating school vehicles.
The department is also closely monitoring buses driven by drivers above 60 years of age as part of a safety focused initiative. Officials said the special drive aims to ensure that school children travel in safe and compliant vehicles.
Meanwhile, transport authorities warned that strict action will be taken against vehicles that violate transport rules or compromise student safety. They stated that enforcement teams will continue inspections across Hyderabad and surrounding areas in the coming days.
The Transport Department said the ongoing checks form part of a broader effort to strengthen school transport safety and ensure that all operators follow mandatory regulations at the start of the new academic term.
