Shaikpet flyover inaugurated

Hyderabad, Jan 1: If the Union government allocates the land belonging to Central Home department at Rasoolpura junction, the State government will build a flyover there, said Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) Minister KT Rama Rao.

Inaugurating the Shaikpet flyover here on Saturday, Rama Rao also told the Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy who was present at the programme, that a series of development works were taken up in Greater Hyderabad limits but the progress in infrastructure and civic works in Secunderabad Cantonment Board took a backseat.

“The 21 roads under Local Military Authority (LMA ) that were closed against the rules of the Ministry of Defence, should be opened. I request Union Minister Kishan Reddy to place this issue before Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and get the issue resolved,” he said.

Rama Rao also sought allocation of Defence lands to build skyways from Patny to Kompally and from Jubilee Bus Station to Turkapally.

He mentioned that though the request was being made for six years and four Defence Ministers have changed during the period, multiple requests by the State government for allocation of the land were not accepted.

Rama Rao also said the State government is ready to extend full support so that Hyderabad gets UNESCO World Heritage City recognition.
