Six Arrested For Stealing Copper Wire In Karimnagar

  • Police seize 3 quintals of copper wire and vehicles

Police in Karimnagar have arrested six individuals accused of stealing copper wires from current motors in several villages under the Karimnagar Commissionerate limits. Karimnagar Commissioner of Police (CP) Gous Alam briefed the media about the arrests at his office on Saturday, detailing the recovery of stolen property and the ongoing efforts to apprehend other suspects involved in the case.

The arrested have been identified as Manupati Shekhar of Kattarampur in Karimnagar, Manupati Sanjeev of Choppadandi Vizianagaram Colony, Undati Mahesh of Begumpet in Ramagiri Mandal, Bodasu Kumar of Veljipur in Ellanthakunta Mandal, Sagarla Ranjeet of Penchikalpet in Kamanpur Mandal, and Bodige Sompath of Choppadandi Santoshnagar. Police alleged that the group stole copper wires from 12 current motors and also stole some cattle from nearby villages.

The arrests took place at the Gumlapur intersection in Choppadandi, where police intercepted the suspects during operations. CP Gous Alam stated that three quintals of copper wire, a Bolero vehicle, an Ashok Leyland vehicle, and a motorcycle were seized from their possession. He added that the police are continuing to search for eight others connected to the thefts who remain at large.

According to the Commissioner, this organized theft ring had been active across several rural areas in the district. The arrest is expected to reduce such property crimes in the region. Karimnagar Rural ACP Vijay Kumar, Choppadandi CI Pradeep Kumar, Kanakondur CI Sanjeev, along with SIs and other staff, took part in the successful operation. Police have registered cases and further investigation is underway to trace the remaining accused
