Hyderabad, April 16: Ramchander Rao accused the Indian National Congress of attempting to create divisions between regions. He said people in southern states would not be influenced by such narratives.
Addressing the media on April 16, 2026, he criticised the party’s stand on the women’s reservation bill. He questioned why Rahul Gandhi was opposing a proposal he had earlier supported.

Rao said the bill would not harm southern states. He rejected concerns raised about delimitation affecting representation. He added that fears being expressed were misleading.
He also criticised Revanth Reddy for alleged regional politics. He said creating a north south divide was not appropriate for a national party.
The BJP leader claimed Congress had lost support in northern regions. He said the party would face similar setbacks in the South.
The remarks come amid ongoing political debate over delimitation and women’s reservation in Parliament.
