Hyderabad: Byreddy Sabari said Telugu Desam Party has a long history of empowering women while speaking on the Women Reservation Bill in Parliament.
She made the remarks during the debate on key legislations, including women’s reservation and delimitation proposals introduced by the NDA government.
Sabari stated that TDP was the first party to provide 30 percent reservation for women in jobs. She also said the party ensured property rights for women.
TDP Women Reservation Bill stance highlights past initiatives
She credited N T Rama Rao for establishing a university for women in Tirupati. She added that special courts were created to deliver justice to women.
Sabari also highlighted initiatives under N Chandrababu Naidu. She said the government promoted women’s development through DWACRA groups.
According to her, these efforts improved financial independence among women in Andhra Pradesh. She claimed that such initiatives helped create economic opportunities at the household level.
Sabari said the party aims to build entrepreneurship among women. She added that TDP envisions creating business opportunities in every household.
The debate comes as Parliament discusses major reforms related to women’s reservation and constituency delimitation.
