Southern Command team lifts Army Inter Command Volleyball Championship

Secunderabad, 01 May 2023: Southern Command team won the Army Inter Command Volleyball Championship- 2023 beating the Eastern Command team (25-21, 25-14, 26-24) during the championship held at Eagles Indoor Volleyball Court of 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad on 01 May 2023.

Teams from all Army commands participated in the tournament wef 25 Apr 2023. The tournament witnessed the sparkling performance of all teams. However Southern command team has established their supremacy throughout the tournament. As the team has beaten all teams during the league matches.

Major General Rakesh Manocha, Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding Telangana and Andhra Sub Area, Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony, presented the winning trophy to Southern Command and felicitated players of both teams.

1 EME Centre Secunderabad is the Army volleyball node for Indian Army & was assigned the responsibility for the conduct of the tournament on behalf of the Army Sports Control Board.

In addition, selection, training & management of the Southern Command team was also the responsibility of 1 EME Centre. The Centre will be responsible to select the probables of the Indian Army Volleyball team, Coaching & further feeding of volleyball team of the Indian Army to Inter-Services tournament in days ahead. The Facility of volleyball sports infra at 1 EME Centre to scale up to meet the requirements of producing the best team of the Indian Army & necessary approvals of the Army sports control board are in place as informed by Brigadier Suresh G, Commandant 1 EME Centre.
