Hyderabad, Nov 22 (Maxim News): The Telangana High Court has ruled on the disqualification petition of MLAs. The Chief Justice bench struck down the order given by the single judge to finalize the schedule on the disqualification petition of MLAs who defected from the party.
It advised the Speaker to make a decision at an appropriate time. 10th schedule to decide on disqualification petitions. The Anti-Defection Act suggested that the Speaker should make a decision keeping in mind the five-year term of the Assembly.
BRS MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and KP Vivekanand have filed petitions to raise MLAs disqualification issues against Kadiam Srihari, Tellam Venkatarao, and Danam Nagender, who won as MLAs on behalf of BRS, joining the Congress. Along with these, BJP Legislative Party leader Eleti Maheswar Reddy filed another petition to disqualify Danam Nagender.
As the Speaker did not accept the disqualification petitions, they approached the High Court. The single judge who heard the matter on September 9, ruled that the schedule on the disqualification petitions should be finalised within 4 weeks. The appeals filed by the Assembly Secretary in the High Court challenging the judgment of the single judge were postponed after the arguments were concluded recently.
