State BJP Leaders Lodge Complaint To Venkaiah Against Keshav Rao For Violating Rules

New Delhi, Feb.1 (Maxim News): State unit of BJP lodged complaint against ruling TRS party MP K. Keshav Rao with Rajya Sabha Chairman and Vice President of the country M. Venkaiah Naidu and urged him to take action against Rao for violating rules and casting his vote in Telangana as the ex-officio member during the recent election of municipal chairpersons in the State despite being a member from Andhra Pradesh State.

A delegation of party leaders led by BJP State president Dr. K. Laxman on Saturday called on the Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and submitted a representation on the issue. He was accompanied by the party MPs and MLC from the State. In his representation, he told the Vice President that Keshav Rao has willfully misled the Telangana State Election Commission in order to cast his vote in the urban local body elections in Tukkuguda Municipality as an ex-officio member from the State of Telangana. He said the act of Rao would unequivocally casts questions on his conduct as the member and attract the provisions and stipulations of Ethics Committee.

He also alleged that The ruling TRS party, during the entire course of elections, had taken recourse to blatant misuse of power right from the stage of issuing notification till the last phase of election of Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Mayor and Deputy Mayor. “The scale and magnitude of misuse of power was unprecedented in the history. The TRS party in its anxiety to grab as many municipalities as possible, irrespective of whether they have the numbers or not, subverted all the procedures and unfortunately the Election Commission has remained a mute spectator to the entire process,” he said.

He also said Keshav Rao was elected to the Rajya Sabha before the formation of Telangana State, and added that after formation of Telangana State, he was declared elected from the State of Andhra Pradesh as per draw of lots held on May 30, 2014 as per section 13 of the 1st Schedule of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014.

“It is clear that K.Keshava Rao, Member of Parliament, represents the state of Andhra Pradesh as member of Rajya Sabha and therefore he can’t register himself as member of another state, that too for the purpose of casting vote as an ex-officio member. Though, K. Keshava Rao was elected from Andhra Pradesh, he illegally claimed as ex-officio member under Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019 and he chose Tukkuguda Municipality and cast his vote in the said Municipality on January 27,2020,” he noted.
