Ghaziabad, May 31: Asad, the main accused in the murder of 17-year-old Surya Pratap Chauhan, was killed in a police encounter in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, during the early hours of Saturday, according to police officials.
Police said Asad was wanted in connection with the recent murder of Surya Pratap Chauhan under the Khoda police station limits. The case had triggered protests and demands for swift action against those involved.

According to officials, police received information that Asad was attempting to flee the area. Acting on the tip-off, teams from Khoda and Indirapuram police stations launched a joint operation and intercepted a motorcycle carrying the accused.
Police alleged that Asad opened fire when officers attempted to stop him. In the exchange of fire, Asad sustained bullet injuries and was taken to a hospital, where he later died during treatment.
A police constable was also injured during the operation. Officials said the constable’s condition is stable.
Earlier, police had registered an FIR against five persons in connection with the murder case and arrested three accused. Asad had been absconding, and authorities had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his arrest.
Police said another person who was travelling with Asad on the motorcycle managed to escape from the spot. Search operations have been intensified to trace and apprehend the absconding suspect.
Investigators recovered a motorcycle and a pistol from the encounter site. Further investigation into the case is underway.
