- BJP accuses Revanth Reddy of intimidating Jubilee Hills voters over welfare schemes
- MLAs urge electoral action after CM’s alleged comments on Pakistan attack
BJP MLAs in Telangana have formally complained to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sudarshan Reddy against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, accusing him of threatening voters and making controversial statements about Pakistan. The allegations center around the ongoing campaign in the Jubilee Hills constituency, with BJP leaders claiming that the Chief Minister warned voters that welfare schemes could be withdrawn if they did not support Congress in upcoming elections.
BJP Floor Leader A Maheswar Reddy and Deputy Floor Leader Payal Shankar submitted their representation to the CEO, calling for strict action under the Model Code of Conduct and other applicable laws. They demanded that the electoral authority bar the Chief Minister from further campaigning in Jubilee Hills, citing the need to maintain fair play and prevent misuse of power during elections.
In addition to the intimidation claims, the BJP MLAs challenged Revanth Reddy’s comments related to the Pakistan attack, labeling them “highly objectionable and inflammatory.” According to the BJP, these remarks not only undermine the valor and sacrifices of Indian soldiers but also serve to “demoralise the nation for political gain.” The party urged the CEO to review these statements and take appropriate action to safeguard the morale of the armed forces and public sentiment.
The complaint intensifies ongoing tensions between the BJP and Congress in Telangana, particularly amid heated contests in the Jubilee Hills constituency. BJP leaders insist that such “attempts to threaten voters and make objectionable comments for political advantage” breach democratic norms and must be addressed by election authorities without delay. The matter is now pending before the electoral office, awaiting a formal response to the BJP’s demand for urgent and strict measures.
