Hyderabad, Nov 19 (Maxim News): The High Court on Tuesday gave a sensational verdict cancelling the Group-2 recruitments notified and filled ten years ago. The High Court cancelled the selection list given by TGPSC in 2019 regarding this notification.
The High Court ordered TGPSC to re-evaluate the OMR sheets and announce the selection list again. The High Court has set a deadline for TGPSC to announce the final list within 8 weeks. The Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) was questioned about how those who tampered with Part-B, which marks the answers in the OMR sheet, will also be selected for jobs.
TGPSC had issued a notification in 2015 for the filling of Group-2 posts. TGPSC conducted written tests in November 2016. TGPSC took up the Group-2 rules in 2019. However, several petitions were filed in the High Court alleging tampering of the 2015 Group-2 OMR sheet. The Telangana High Court, which took up the hearing on these petitions, issued a final verdict on November 18, 2025.
On this occasion, the court faulted the commission for making appointments contrary to the High Court Division Bench verdict and the recommendations of the Technical Committee. The court clarified that the evaluation of documents using double bubbling, whitener, and eraser is invalid. It stated that the results announced in 2019 are illegal.
The High Court directed the commission to re-evaluate following the recommendations of the two-member bench and the Technical Committee. The court ruled that the entire process should be completed within 8 weeks. On this occasion, the High Court expressed its anger at the TGPSC. It said that the TGPSC violated the High Court’s orders and acted beyond its scope.
The High Court expressed its displeasure over the evaluation of answer sheets with whitener and corrections. The High Court said that it is illegal to evaluate answer sheets even after knowing that OMR tampering has taken place. It ordered the revaluation of OMR sheets as per the suggestion of the technical committee. It set a deadline for TGPSC to announce the final list within 8 weeks.
It is known that TGPSC issued a notification in 2015 for the recruitment of 1,032 posts under Group-2. Later, a supplementary notification was issued in 2016 and the exams were conducted in November.
However, there were allegations that the question paper booklet and OMR sheets did not match. Due to this, the government formed a technical committee. The committee submitted its report in 2017 that this confusion arose because the candidates and invigilators felt that the booklet number and OMR number should be the same. The committee recommended that if there was tampering or whitener used in the answers in Part-B, those papers should not be evaluated.
Some approached a single judge and then a two-judge bench on the committee’s recommendations, but the two-judge bench ruled in 2019 that the recommendations of the technical committee should be followed.
However, Bhukya Priyanka of Chennayapalem, Mattapalli mandal, Suryapet district, and others filed six more writ petitions in the High Court in 2019, alleging that the documents were evaluated in a contrary manner. Justice Nagesh Bhimapaka, who took up the matter, delivered the verdict on Tuesday. (Maxim News)
