Hyderabad, June 21 (Maxim News): The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau said Rs 45.21 crore has been refunded to cybercrime victims in the state so far, reflecting the scale of financial fraud complaints handled by enforcement agencies and banks.
In a statement released on Sunday, the TGCSB said the refunded amount was processed till June 20 this year. It added that 6,303 bank accounts were frozen based on cybercrime complaints, with the total value of the frozen amount also standing at Rs 45.21 crore.
The bureau said another Rs 6.83 crore was recovered in 77 cases through direct intervention by the TGCSB. The figures highlight the growing volume of online financial fraud cases being tracked and acted upon in Telangana through complaint based recovery and account freezing mechanisms.
Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda report major refund cases
According to the TGCSB, victims in the three city police commissionerates also received substantial refunds. In Hyderabad Commissionerate, Rs 4.04 crore was refunded in 779 cases. In Cyberabad, Rs 3.22 crore was returned in 755 cases, while Rachakonda recorded refunds of Rs 1.69 crore in 167 cases.
The bureau said a total of Rs 445.41 crore was frozen in 59,953 cybercrime cases through the Telangana Cyber Crime Network Portal. It also released a year wise breakup of frozen funds, showing Rs 8.36 crore in 2023, Rs 183.9 crore in 2024, Rs 182.9 crore in 2025 and Rs 70.07 crore in 2026 till June 20.
The TGCSB urged the public to remain cautious while using digital platforms and online payment systems. It advised people not to share unknown links, one time passwords, PIN numbers or banking passwords with anyone under any circumstances.
Victims of cyber fraud have been asked to report incidents immediately through the 1930 cybercrime helpline or the National Cyber Crime Portal, as early reporting can improve the chances of freezing transactions and recovering money before it is withdrawn or moved further.
