Hyderabad, Sept. 29: The Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) recorded its highest-ever electricity demand on Tuesday, reaching 12,044 MW at 3:52 pm.
The latest figure marks a new record in the history of TGSPDCL. It surpassed the previous peak demand of 11,828 MW, recorded on September 11, 2026, by 216 MW.
The sharp rise in demand was attributed to increased electricity consumption across domestic, commercial and industrial categories. Officials said consumption also remained high across Greater Hyderabad.
TGSPDCL Maintains Power Supply Amid Record Demand
Despite the unprecedented demand, TGSPDCL officials said the distribution network managed to maintain power supply without major interruptions.
The discom had taken precautionary measures and kept its field staff alert to respond to any issues during the period of peak demand. Officials said efforts were focused on ensuring reliable and uninterrupted supply to consumers.
The latest record comes amid a period of elevated electricity consumption across Telangana. The state as a whole had also recorded an all-time peak demand of 19,543 MW on September 9, 2026, according to reports.
Within Greater Hyderabad, TGSPDCL recorded a peak demand of 4,072 MW on September 28 at 6:42 pm, along with electricity consumption of 82.89 million units, according to a report citing the discom.
TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil said the organisation’s priority was to provide quality, reliable and uninterrupted power supply. He added that the power system was being strengthened to meet future demand and support the state’s growth.
The latest peak highlights the growing pressure on the electricity distribution network as consumption rises across residential, commercial and industrial sectors.
