Traffic movement on National Highway 44 near Shamshabad came to a halt early Friday morning after a truck loaded with plastic material caught fire. According to initial reports, the driver and cleaner noticed the smoke and immediately jumped out of the cabin, escaping unhurt. Within minutes, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames, sending thick plumes of smoke high into the air. Local residents rushed to the spot and tried to control the fire using available water sources before municipal staff and a water tanker arrived to assist in firefighting efforts.

A fire tender reached the location shortly afterward and succeeded in extinguishing the flames after a brief struggle. The truck, which sustained major damage, was moved to the side of the highway using a crane. The intense heat and burning plastic fumes created visibility issues, slowing vehicular movement along this busy stretch. For a while, traffic was stopped completely to allow the fire crew to work safely and prevent any further sparks or accidents.

Officials later confirmed that the fire had caused no injuries. However, preliminary investigations suggest that a short circuit might have triggered the incident. Authorities are verifying the exact cause. The incident added another reminder about the fire risks associated with the transportation of flammable materials, especially plastic cargo, on long routes. Normal traffic resumed after the burnt vehicle was cleared from the scene.
