Union Minister Stresses on the Need to Encourage Sports Persons

Hyderabad, Aug.29 (Maxim News): Union Minister for Tourism G. Kishan Reddy today stressed on the need to encourage persons , who are interested in sports. He said that the sports of the country had proved their mettle in the recent Olympic Games due to the encourage provided by central government. He claimed that the central government had encouraged scores of the sports persons under its Khelo India scheme.

Reddy said that the central government had sanctioned ₹26 crore for the development sports in Telangana. He made these remarks while addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone for the construction of some sports complexes on Osmania University premises. The vice chancellor of the university professor Ravinder and Others also took part in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy said that the students, who play sports, would excel in any other field and urged them to improve their skills in sports.

State sports Minister V. Srinivas Goud said they were constructing sports complexes in different districts of the state. He urged the union minister to sanction special funds for the development of the sports sector in the state. The authorities of the university have decided to build a new swimming pool for women, synthetic tennis court and athletics track. (Maxim News)
