Vikarabad Collector Attacked: 55 Taken Into Custody, Internet Services Down

Vikarabad/Hyderabad, Nov 12 (Maxim News): The Gram Sabha organized yesterday in Lagacharla village of Dudyala mandal of Vikarabad district to acquire land for setting up of pharmaceutical industries turned into a battle. The villagers attacked the officials. Police arrested 55 people in this incident.  Internet services were stopped in Dudyala, Kodangal, and Bomraspet mandals. The police found that the attack was planned.  Police were heavily deployed in Lagachar.

The incident, which took place in the Kodangal constituency represented by Chief Minister Revaznth Reddy, created a commotion across the state.  At the same time, the farmers of the respective villages tried to attack the District Collector Prateek Jain, Additional Collector Lingyanayak, Sub-Collector Umashankar Prasad, and Kodangal Area Development Authority (Kada) Special Officer Venkat Reddy with sticks and stones.  The Collector and the Additional Collector managed to escape but Special Officer Venkat Reddy was seriously injured.  DSp Srinivas Reddy who tried to escape him was also attacked.  (Maxim News)
