With AP Gets New Guv, Will TS Have New One Too?

Hyderabad, July 17 (Maxim News): The appointment of senior BJP leader Biswa Bhushan Harichandan as governor of Andhra Pradesh by the President has raised speculation over the future of Telangana Governor ESL Narasimhan.

Two theories are currently doing rounds in the corridors of politics in the State. While one is that the State will have a new Governor in place of the present Governor, another theory feels that Narasimhan might get an extension for some more time. A section of BJP leaders from the State were saying that Narasimhan will have to go to make the way for his successor. They say the ruling party at the Centre has come up with a strategy to consolidate its position in all the South Indian States as it has already done so in the North Indian States. “If we look at the different States in the country, 30 governors appointed by us out of 35 are either have RSS background or sympathisers of the party.

“The new Governor appointed by us for Andhra Pradesh State was also a Jana Sangh leader of early 1970s and BJP MLA from Odisha for five terms. If we have our own leaders as Governors in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States, it will become easy for us to improve our strength in the State. It is not possible when you have a non-political person as the Governor,” a senior BJP leader said.

It may be mentioned here that Governor ESL Narasimhan is a former IPS officer and known for his no nonsense attitude. However, his proximity to Chief Minister of the State K Chandrashekhar Rao has not gone down well with the BJP leaders in the State. Another section of the BJP leaders say Narasimhan will be continued for some time by the Centre due to his vast experience as Governor of the State. (Maxim News)
