The victim Dr Mariyam Syed Hafiz, a resident of Shaikpet, went to a private clinic located at OU Colony as she was suffering from abdominal pain and showing symptoms of diarrhea on November 22.

The family members of Mariyam told the police that they had informed Dr Ahmed Ather Ali that she was having an allergy to amoxicillin and penicillin, a group of antibiotics.

“Despite being informed, Dr Ather Ali administered Monocef injection, following which Mariyam developed redness over skin, itching and bluish discoloration on the lips. Dr Ather Ali, on noticing it administered ‘avil and hydrocort injections’ within 30 seconds, following which Mariyam collapsed due to an anaphylactic reaction and went into cardiac arrest,” Syed Hafiz, brother of Mariyam, alleged in his complaint.

The family further alleged that the doctor failed to perform CPR and, instead of stabilising the patient, shifted her to an auto rickshaw and sent the patient to a private hospital at Gachibowli. “The doctors at the Gachibowli hospital said that my sister suffered hypoxic brain injury due to prolonged lack of oxygen. She is in a coma and on ventilator support,” said Syed Hafiz.

Based on the complaint, the Filmnagar police registered a case under Section 125 of BNS.

“A case is registered and we have recorded the statement of the complainant and conducted a panchnama. Investigation is going on,” said Filmnagar sub-inspector, M Prem Raj. (Maxim News)
