Women Reservation Bill: PIL Filed In The Supreme Court For Its Immediate Implementation

Delhi/Hyderabad, Oct 16 (Maxim News): A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the immediate implementation of the Women Reservation Bill, which was recently approved by the Parliament.

It has been requested in the petition that these should be implemented before next year’s General Election 2024. It is known that recently the Women’s Reservation Bill passed by the Parliament has become law after the President gave his assent.

Both Houses of Parliament approved the Women’s Bill titled “Nari shakti Vandan Adhiniyam“, which aims to provide 33 percent reservation for women in the legislatures,  in the month of September. With the assent of the President, the Bill became a law. However, the law is unlikely to come into force at present. Prime Minister Modi told the Lok Sabha during the debate on the bill that this law would be brought into force after the census and delimitation.

Congress leader Dr. Jaya Tahukur approached the Supreme Court regarding the delay in the implementation of this law.  She appealed to declare the obstacles to the implementation of the law invalid and implement these reservations immediately. (Maxim News)
