Hyderabad, Mar 20 (Maxim News) : Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and former minister T. Harish Rao on Friday alleged irregularities in Young India Integrated Schools tenders. He accused the Congress government of bias in school allocations.
Speaking to reporters at the BRS Legislature Party office in the Assembly, he claimed the government completed tenders for 76 schools. However, he alleged authorities did not sanction schools in 26 constituencies represented by BRS MLAs.
According to Harish Rao, the government ignored these constituencies due to political reasons. He also alleged that constituencies represented by MLAs who joined Congress received approvals. Some BJP constituencies also received schools, he claimed.
He said the party would raise the issue strongly in the Assembly. He also claimed he holds documents related to the alleged Young India Integrated Schools tender scam. He said BRS would present these details during Assembly discussions.
Young India Integrated Schools tender scam allegations target tender process
Harish Rao alleged large scale corruption in the tender process. He claimed contractors formed groups and shared projects. According to his statement, bidders quoted excess prices in every tender.
He said excess quotations ranged between 4.59 percent and 4.96 percent. He alleged bidders kept quotes below the 5 percent limit to avoid scrutiny. He also claimed each school received about Rs 250 crore allocation.
Civil works alone account for more than Rs 150 crore per school, he said. He claimed the total estimate for 76 schools stood at Rs 10,199.54 crore. However, contractors secured tenders worth Rs 10,693.55 crore, he alleged. He claimed this resulted in an excess burden of about Rs 494 crore.
The BRS leader also raised questions about allocations in constituencies represented by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka. He alleged tenders in several ministerial constituencies showed higher excess percentages.
He also referred to constituencies represented by N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and other ministers. He questioned the pattern of excess bids in these areas.
Harish Rao further alleged that a company identified as KLSR received nine tenders. He claimed the firm has links to a vehicle used by the Chief Minister. He demanded a transparent probe into the tender process.
The Congress government has not yet responded to these allegations. Further debate on the issue is expected during the ongoing budget session. (Maxim News)
