Hyderabad: A 15-year-old ninth-class student died after the electric scooty he was riding was allegedly hit by a speeding car and crushed between two cars in Kamareddy on Friday evening. Another student riding with him was seriously injured.
The deceased was identified as Hemanth, while his friend Chinthala Lokesh sustained serious injuries. Both students are from Sriramnagar Colony and study in Class 9 at a local government school.
According to preliminary information, the two friends had taken an electric scooty belonging to a relative to learn how to ride. They were travelling on the road opposite the International Hotel when a car allegedly hit them from behind at high speed.
The impact reportedly pushed the scooty between two cars, crushing the vehicle. Hemanth died at the spot, while Lokesh suffered serious injuries.
Minor Identified as Car Driver in Kamareddy Accident
Lokesh was shifted to a local hospital for treatment. Police reached the scene after receiving information and collected details about the accident.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. According to preliminary findings, a minor boy has been identified as the driver of the car that allegedly caused the crash.
The accident has left both families devastated. Hemanth’s father had died some time ago, and his mother Lavanya was raising him as her only child.
Lokesh’s father, Dasharath, reportedly died of illness a few months ago. His mother Rajeshwari, who works as a labourer, is raising Lokesh and his sister.
The circumstances leading to the crash, including the speed of the vehicle and the minor driver’s role, are being investigated by police.
