Medak Custodial Death: Fact Finding Team Demands Rs. 50 Lakhs Compensation
- Recommended DGP To Ensure the Safety and Security of Witnesses and Preservation of Medical Records and CCTV Footage
Medak Custodial Death | Hyderabad, Mar 1 (Maxim News): The Fact Finding Team on the death of Khadeer Khan has demanded the State government headed by the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to pay Rs. 50 lakh as compensation and a government job to Farzana (widow of Khadeer Khan)
The team has also demanded the Director General of Police ensure the safety and security of all the witnesses including Rizwan (Khadeer’s friend), Khadeer’s family members, his sister, and brother-in-law Moin, seeing the gravity of the case that is state-sponsored murder committed by the Medak Police.
The fact-finding team comprising Khalida Parveen, Murali Karnam, S.Q. Masood, Krishna Kumari, Manga, Deepthi, Kaneez Fathima, Kareema, Farisa Quadri, Naseem Sultana, Gayatri, and Fariya visited the family, friends, and neighbours of the victims Mohammed Khadeer Khan, visited the Medak town police station and area government hospital at Medak. The fact-finding team spoke to Khadeer Khan’s wife Farzana, his three children, his brother and sis-in-law as well as his friend Rizwan to know the facts of the incident.
Medak Custodial Death
The fact-finding report says that it is the murder committed by the police as Khadeer Khan’s wife Farzana told them that her husband had been a daily wage worker and he was staying with her sister at Hyderabad from January 19 to 29, the day of arrest. On the day of the chain snatching he was not in Medak. She had taken her husband from the police to home on February 3. He was suffering from fever, heaving breathing, and sleeplessness, not being able to eat anything either.
The police started visiting her home every day to enquire about his health condition. Whenever she expressed her concern about his health, the police told her not to take him to any hospital and they provided painkillers to administer at home. She said Khadeer Khan told her that his urine also stopped from the time they beat him and he hardly urinated for four days and started complaining of pain and swelling in the abdomen.
Khadeer’s wife Farzana wanted him to be taken to the hospital but the police constable Pavan was continuously keeping vigil on their house and threatened them not to go anywhere.
Wife approached district magistrate
Farzana collected the names of the police personnel who tortured him and she approached the concerned district magistrate with a letter of complaint on how the police tortured her husband and prevented her from taking him to the hospital. As Khadeer’s condition was worsening on February 8 his wife forcefully took him to an area government hospital in spite of Constable Pavan’s warnings.
The police made every effort to interfere in the treatment process and confiscate the test results from the hospital. The doctors told her that she should take a bigger hospital as his kidneys have been damaged and it was already late. Some journalists recorded a video statement of Khadeer Khan when he was in Medak government hospital.
The fact-finding team further demanded that DGP Anjani Kumar to preserve the footage of CCTV cameras from January 29 to February 16 of the State House Officers, Medak town police station, Station House officer, Hussaini Alam Police station, Tahsildar Medak town. Superintendent, Government district hospital, Medak, Superintendent/In-charge, Renova Hospital, Kompally, superintendent/Incharge, Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad, neighbors of Moin, Khadeer Khan’s brother-in-law in Hussaini Alam area.
The fact-finding team also demanded a speedy trial of Khadeer Khan’s case by appointing a special magistrate and separate bench, Demanded DGP issue orders to register an FIR against the erring police officers under 302 IPC, immediate transfer SP Medak for her failure to take timely action against the erring police officers.
Further demanded the Telangana government establish police complaint authorities at every district and State level as soon as possible in compliance with the direction of the Supreme court and High Court of Telangana. etc. (Maxim News)
