Hyderabad, Jan 28 (Maxim News): Tensions are rising in the Goshamahal area as residents prepare to protest against the government’s plan to build a new Osmania General Hospital (OGH) building in their neighborhood. They have called for a “Goshamahal Bandh” on January 31 to stop the project.

Residents, led by the Goshamahal Parirakshana Samithi, are worried that constructing a large hospital in a crowded residential area will cause problems. They say it will make traffic worse and put more pressure on the already struggling local infrastructure.

Resident’s Demands

The residents have protested at Chakanawadi Nala, given petitions to the District Collector, and met with their local MLA to express their concerns. They argue that the area is already dealing with narrow roads and heavy traffic because of busy markets, like the fish market in Begum Bazar and the Kirana and plastic markets nearby.

Other problems include:

  • Traffic Issues: The narrow roads and constant traffic, especially during the Industrial Exhibition held every year, already make life difficult for residents.
  • Impact of the Hospital: They believe adding a large hospital to the area will only make these problems worse.

The residents are also asking BJP MLA T. Raja Singh to join their protest and have said they might take the matter to court.

Government Moves Ahead with the Plan

Despite the protests, the state government is going ahead with the hospital construction. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is expected to lay the foundation for the new building soon. During a meeting, he instructed officials to:

  • Improve the roads around the hospital to ease traffic.
  • Build a helipad for emergency services.
  • Add a two-floor parking area to help with car congestion.
