Hyderabad, May 17: A major fire broke out at the Yadadri Thermal Power Plant located at Veerlapalem in Damaracherla mandal of Nalgonda district on Sunday, triggering panic in the surrounding areas.
According to preliminary reports, the fire erupted in Unit 3 of the thermal power station.
Huge flames and thick smoke were seen billowing from the affected unit, creating concern among plant workers and nearby residents.
Fire and emergency services personnel immediately rushed to the power plant after receiving information about the incident.
Firefighters are currently carrying out operations to control and extinguish the blaze.
Dense smoke spread across nearby areas as the fire intensified inside the unit.
Officials suspect that the accident may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, though the exact reason is yet to be officially confirmed.
