Hyderabad, May 27: V C Sajjanar has advised traders and livestock sellers to remain alert against fake digital payment scams during the Eid al-Adha season.
The warning comes after multiple cheating incidents involving fake payment app screenshots were reported in different parts of Hyderabad.
Fake GPay Screens Used To Cheat Traders
According to police, six persons allegedly cheated a cattle trader within the limits of Kanchanbagh police station by showing a fake payment confirmation screen claiming Rs 5,000 had been transferred.
The suspects reportedly escaped with cattle worth nearly Rs 68,000 without making any actual payment.
In another incident reported under Rajendranagar police station limits, four persons allegedly bought goats worth Rs 48,000 and used a fake digital payment app to deceive the seller.
Police said the victims later realised the amount had not been credited to their bank accounts and approached authorities with complaints.
Police Advisory For Livestock Sellers
Commissioner Sajjanar advised goat and sheep traders to verify bank account balances directly before handing over animals or goods to buyers.
He urged traders not to rely only on screenshots or payment messages shown on mobile phones.
Police also asked people to immediately contact Dial 100 if they suspect fraud or cheating during transactions.
Authorities said special vigilance is being maintained during the Bakrid season, when livestock trading increases significantly across the city.
