Modi, Delcy Rodriguez Hold Talks to Boost India Venezuela Ties

New Delhi, June 4: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday held bilateral talks with Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez at Hyderabad House in New Delhi, focusing on expanding cooperation in energy, trade, investment, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, transportation and renewable energy.

Rodriguez is on a five day visit to India aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and exploring new opportunities for economic and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

India Venezuela Ties Focus on Energy and Investment

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Rodriguez and reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening ties with Venezuela.

In a post on X, Jaishankar said he deeply valued Rodriguez’s longstanding commitment to the India Venezuela relationship and expressed confidence that her discussions with Prime Minister Modi would further strengthen cooperation.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions between the two leaders covered the full spectrum of India Venezuela relations, with particular emphasis on energy security, trade, investment, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, transportation and renewable energy.

The Venezuelan delegation is also scheduled to visit facilities linked to the energy, pharmaceutical and automobile sectors to gain insights into India’s industrial and technological capabilities and identify areas for collaboration.

India and Venezuela share longstanding ties, particularly in the energy sector. The two countries have also expanded cooperation in trade, healthcare and development initiatives in recent years. Venezuela has emerged as a significant crude oil supplier to India, further strengthening economic engagement between the nations.

Officials said the visit is expected to provide fresh momentum to bilateral relations and open new avenues for cooperation across multiple sectors.
