Hyderabad, July 16: The Telangana government has introduced new guidelines for the payment of paddy bonuses from the 2026 Kharif season. Under the revised policy, farmers will receive the incentive only if they cultivate government approved fine rice varieties and complete online seed registration.
The Agriculture Department said the bonus will be paid only for paddy grown from the varieties notified by the government after verification during crop registration.
According to the new guidelines, seed dealers must register every seed purchase online immediately after the sale using a government provided digital login.
Farmers’ purchase details will be recorded using their passbook information and automatically shared with the Agriculture Department. Agriculture Extension Officers (AEOs) will verify these details during crop registration.
Officials said farmers whose seed purchases are not registered online will not be eligible for the government bonus, even if they cultivate fine paddy.
The government has recommended cultivation of the following seven rice varieties for the Kharif season:
- RNR 15048
- KNM 1638
- BPT 5204
- HMT Sona
- Jai Shri Ram
- WGL 44 (Siddy)
- KNM 7715
Mandal Agriculture Officer B. Satyam urged farmers to cultivate only the notified varieties and ensure that seed purchase details are uploaded online. He said the Agriculture Department would verify the records before releasing the bonus after harvest.
The government has advised farmers not to miss the online registration process, as it is mandatory for receiving the incentive.
