Hyderabad police warn public against fake doctors

Hyderabad, August 27: Hyderabad City Police have warned residents against fake doctors treating patients without valid medical qualifications.

Police said they have identified 12 fake doctors in the city and taken legal action against them.

The warning came through a press release issued by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

According to police, the fake doctors often pose as qualified medical professionals. They allegedly prescribe antibiotics, steroids, blood pressure and diabetes medicines.

They also administer injections and saline without proper medical knowledge, police said. Such practices can place patients at serious risk.

Police said prolonged and improper medication can cause severe health problems. These problems may affect the lungs, heart and kidneys.

Hyderabad police issue checks to identify fake doctors

The Hyderabad police said they have stepped up surveillance against fake doctors. The move aims to protect residents from unsafe medical treatment.

Police also advised people to verify clinics and hospitals before seeking treatment.

Patients should check whether the facility displays an official registration certificate issued by the District Medical and Health Officer.

They should also check the doctor’s display board. It should carry the doctor’s name, educational qualifications and Telangana State Medical Council registration number.

People can also verify a doctor’s credentials online. They can use the Telangana State Medical Council’s Doctor Search facility.

Patients can search using the doctor’s name or registration number. If the details do not appear, police advised people to treat the credentials as suspicious.

Police also urged patients to seek a second opinion if they have concerns about treatment. They should consult another qualified medical professional in such cases.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police said their action against fake doctors will continue. Officials also urged residents to remain alert while choosing medical services.

People who suspect the presence of fake doctors can report the matter to police. They can dial 112 or approach the nearest police station.

Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar appealed to residents to report such cases without delay. He said timely information can help protect people from unsafe medical treatment.
